Enroute to the Symposium, we will visit quilters, quilt studios, and textile artists on North and South Islands, attend a local guild meeting,and participate in a special program by Maori weavers. We will explore the scenic and cultural highlights of New Zealand including the West Coast glaciers, Waitomo Caves, an overnight cruise on Milford Sound, Te Papa Museum, the Antarctic Centre and a Maori hangi feast and cultural experience.

My original introduction to this beautiful country was in 1997, when I taught for the New Zealand National Quilting Symposium. Since then, I've visited several times, and have lead two previous tours there: a quilting tour in 1999 and a birding/Maori culture tour in 2003.
